  • In 2005, Titagarh Rail Systems took a significant step to bolster its manufacturing capabilities. The company acquired the Heavy Engineering Division (HED) in Uttarpara, West Bengal, doubling its foundry capacity from 12,000 MT to an impressive 25,000 MT.

Strategic Overseas Acquisition,

  • However, the company's transformative journey didn't stop there. In 2010, Titagarh Rail Systems made its first overseas acquisition by acquiring Arbel Fauvet Rail (AFR), a renowned French rail wagon manufacturer. Despite facing insolvency in 2009, AFR was successfully revived under Titagarh Rail Systems' management, expanding the company's global footprint.

Titagarh Rail Systems' commitment to excellence and innovation earned it prestigious recognition. The French Government bestowed honours upon Mr Umesh Chowdhary, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the company, in acknowledgement of its achievements.

Venturing Beyond Rail: Shipbuilding

In 2012, Titagarh Rail Systems ventured into shipbuilding by acquiring Corporate Shipyard, which later merged into Titagarh Marine and subsequently became a part of Titagarh Rail Systems. This strategic expansion allowed Titagarh Rail Systems to contribute to India's maritime sector and solidify its position as a versatile player in the transportation industry.

Certifications and Collaborations

Titagarh Rail Systems' commitment to quality is underscored by its certification from RDSO - G105 in 2013, indicating a production capacity of 8,400 wagons per year. Collaborations with the Ministry of Defence for the supply and installation of defence equipment have also been instrumental in enhancing the company's position as an industry partner to DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization).

Going Global: The Acquisition of Firema Trasporti

In 2015, Titagarh Rail Systems made another significant leap by acquiring Firema Trasporti, an Italian rail equipment company with a history of 100 years. This strategic move provided Titagarh Rail Systems with access to cutting-edge technology and expertise in passenger rolling stock, further expanding its global footprint.

Joint Ventures and Future Contracts

In 2017, Titagarh Rail Systems formed a joint venture with French company Matiere SAS to manufacture metallic and modular bridges, showcasing its commitment to innovation and diversification.

  • In 2019, the company secured a contract to supply metro coaches for the Pune Metro, and in 2022, it initiated the delivery of traction motors for locomotives and launched its first warship for the Indian Coast Guard.

In 2023, the company secured a prestigious contract in a consortium with BHEL for the manufacturing and maintenance of 80 Vande Bharat trainsets, valued at INR 23,000 crore. Additionally, the Ministry of Railways awarded Titagarh another contract, in consortium with RKFL, for the production and supply of 15,40,000 forged wheels, exceeding a combined value of INR 35,000 crore.
